Next onto finishing the edge. I hand stitched around it using a closed blanket stitch. I love love love the look the stitching gives it. I hope these photos help you to see how the stitch is done.
I embroidered a little patch for the back with my initials and the year. I sewed it on a little bit before I was done sewing around the whole thing. I have been saving sweaters for a blanket like this for a while now…except I hope to quilt it on my longarm. I started to collect sweaters today! I am going to try this only using my dog shirts since she has outgrown them.
She has so many clothes! This way I can remember her as a puppy! She gave them to me at Thanksgiving, so I could do something crafty with them. I could only imagine how warm and cozy it is under your blanket. Now I know what I can do with old sweaters we no longer wear. Please tell me it works on sweaters that are not wool.
Also how did you attach the back to your front. The yarn you used to sew the blanket together is cotton yarn. Will the sewn stitches shrink? There are so many other yarns out there that could be used! Very pretty and especially a way of recycling the sweaters from which one has difficulty separating.

I used my regular sewing machine and used a big zigzag stitch. Check out the FAQs post if you have other questions! I actually did shrink a wool jacket and still have it lol I had no idea this is how you felted wool, and I LOVE the way it turned out.
I do have a nice portion of really nice flannel is there bad flannel?? Wonderful, looks like a lot of thought went into this project. They are trimmed of seams, and flanneled to my satisfaction. Bug damage-do a workaround.
Can you maybe give assistance to a newbie to this project? I was a professional seamstress many years ago, but this befuddles me.
The simple binding and stitching is within my pay grade, cutting info about cutting not using the wheel, and squaring them is a new skill. Can acquire tool if necessary. They were useless other than cage liners.
